Marcus Curtius

Y-DNA of the Curtius family & variants:

e.g. Curtze, Korte, Kurtz, Kurtze, Kurz, Van Someren, Van Zomeren etc. families.

Tested with another company

If you have already had your Y-DNA tested by Relative Genetics, Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, AncestryDNA, Oxford Ancestors, DNA Heritage, 23andMe or one of the other DNA testing companies, then you may be able to transfer your test results to FTDNA and then join the FTDNA Y-DNA Surname Project used by this Curtius / Kur(t)z(e) website called "Kur(t)z(e)", which is hosted and administered principally by FTDNA with some input from myself.

FTDNA Learning Center has several articles concerning the transfering of data from another testing laboratory, please click on the following hyperlink Family Tree DNA Y-DNA STR Transfer program for some guidance on this subject and also search their FAQ's. FTDNA also have information and give their modest costs for Autosomal Transfers; Y-DNA Transfers and National Geographic's Genographic Project Transfers. The fee will provide you with a Family Tree DNA personal page which will allow you to:

  • Join Family Tree DNA projects freely, but you will not receive matches or a haplogroup prediction.
  • Your uploaded results will be available to the administrator and included on the project's public page for comparison with other project members.

When you join the "Kur(t)z(e)" Y-DNA Project, your Y-DNA and Kurtz family tree will be analysed for free to determine whether or not you fit into one of the Kurtze family groups that have already been established through Y-DNA analysis.  It is also possible that you will match one of the Kurtz singletons who have not yet found a Kurtz match, thereby establishing a new Kurtz family group.

Even if you do not want to participate in this FTDNA Y-DNA project please send your Y-DNA test results and / or what you know of your Curtius - Korte - Kur(t)z(e) - Van S/Zomeren pedigree to the Webmaster of this website by clicking on the following email link: mail@kurtze.co as this will add to our overall knowledge.
